Fabulous place with extremely knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Fascinating history of the ship and ship building techniques of the time. Well worth a visit (or several, as the ship takes shape and the building advances) Beautiful setting too.

Building a full sized replica of the Sutton Hoo burial ship - an amazing project! But doing it using traditional building methods makes it harder and more impressive, even more so when you add that the skills and techniques of these shipbuilding methods have been lost and so need to be recovered and relearned. On top of which the wood required is no longer abundantly available. An almost impossible project slowly and magnificently rising from the keel slowly but surely. An amazing project, a beautiful project!!

After visiting Sutton Hoo a few years ago we were keen to take a look at this project to recreate a Saxon long boat using traditional methods. The staff and volunteers were helpful in dealing with our questions. No charge to view, but left a donation.

The Long Shed in Woodbridge is a modern maritime heritage center located along the River Deben, near the Woodbridge Tide Mill. I was on holiday and was taken to this amazing boat shed where they were building a long boat by my family, it was a very instructive afternoon and I really enjoyed that outing. Keep it up lads.

Very interesting place to see after visiting Sutton Hoo. This is a place where amazing people are making exactly the same Anglo Saxon shop as they found prints in Sutton Hoo. Free of charge.
